Description

This is a superbe advertising poster for the maritime messagerie company (1851 – 1977). The creation of this company was intended to respond to two challenges of the time: the transport of passengers and freight – with a commercial vocation – as well as postal deliveries.

The image is full of calm with a sea of oil, all licked by the soft rays of the sun. The Vietnamese sampan, wooden hull and white sail coloured by the sun, meets here the cargo ship, a gigantic white vessel, which proudly displays its blue white and red flag in the colours of France.

Apparent inscriptions on the poster:

MESSAGERIES MARITIMES
Marseille – India – Ceylon – Malaysia – Vietnam – Hong Kong – Philippines – Japan
Edita – Paris
