Description

This delicate bronze blade with its spiral handle is a fine example of the famous metal production of the Dong Son culture. This culture from the valley of the Red River, Ma River and Ca River in present-day Vietnam was distinguished by its great skill in bronze metallurgy. From the 7th century BC to the 2nd century AD, it produced objects with rich and varied styles such as tools, weapons, jewellery but also intriguing drums. These objects had both ceremonial and utilitarian functions, and also accompanied the deceased into the grave.
