Description

This bowl and jar, dated to the Le Dynasty, embody the mastery of Vietnamese craftsmen in the production of ceramics with blue underglaze decoration. Both objects have a globular body, decorated on the outside with foliage and scrolls, radiating out from chrysanthemums. Divided into several registers surrounded by a delicate blue border, the calligraphic style of the vegetal motifs is very sensitive and aroused great interest among foreign customers.

Inspired by the Chinese production of the famous “blues and whites”, Vietnamese ceramics nevertheless present a spontaneity and a freedom in its composition which make it an original and authentic art.
