Description

This highly original dish with its characteristically rounded rim, is decorated with a moulded design of chrysanthemum petals. It is the thin glaze and the five clearly visible bead marks inside, that distinguish this bowl from contemporary Chinese Longquan ware. This piece is covered with a beautiful celadon lustre that ends in an irregular line above the small foot. Made of stoneware, measuring 16 cm in diameter and dated to around the 14th century, it is typical of the rich artistic production of the Trân dynasty (1225-1400).
