Glazed and vitrified ceramic
D. 6 x 16 cm
This very original dish with rounded walls ending in a characteristic rim, and whose molded decoration evokes petals of chrysanthemums. It is its thin cover and the five brands of pernettes clearly visible inside that differentiate this cup from contemporary Chinese productions by Longquan. This piece is coated with a beautiful glossy celadon cover which ends in an irregular line above the small foot. Made of sandstone, measuring 16 cm in diameter and dated around the 14th century, it is typical of the rich artistic production of the Tran dynasty (1225-1400). A very similar example is kept at the Cernuschi museum (MC 8259).
Provenance: Private collection, Italy.
