Tran Dynastie (1225-1400)
D. 7 x 15 cm
Dating from around the 14th century, this polylobed lip bowl bears witness to the brilliant artistic period that characterizes the Tran dynasty (1225-1400). Made of sandstone and measuring 15 cm in diameter, it is enriched with an incised floral decoration appearing under the cover at the level of its internal wall. Both the form and the design are reminiscent of Chinese productions from the contemporary Yuan dynasty. A similar example belongs to the rich collection of Vietnamese ceramics from the Cernuschi museum (MC 8267).
Provenance: Private collection.
