Description

This beautiful polychrome terracotta jar was made using the potter’s wheel technique. Its decoration features interlacing clouds and coloured scrolls. These painted motifs are spread out over the whole piece and refer to a cosmic world. This ancient Hu vase fits perfectly into the production of polychrome terracottas of the period, which represented an important production during the Han dynasty.

Condition report:

The work is in a good state of conservation and its decoration has kept a nice polychromy. A crack can be observed at the foot.
